Kramer (born Boston, Massachusetts, July 22, 1947) is a judge serving on the San Francisco County Superior Court. He is most known for his 2005 ruling striking down Proposition 22, a California ballot initiative defining marriage as only valid when between a man and a woman. ==Education and career== Kramer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1969, graduating magna cum laude. He was graduated from the University of Southern California Law School in 1972 as a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Kramer worked as civil litigator representing the banking industry.〔()〕 He was appointed to the San Francisco County Superior Court by California Governor Pete Wilson in 1996.
